Oracle Fusion Project Management 26C brings 19 new features across AI, financial control, reporting and data. But the number that matters first is three.
Three features arrive delivered enabled, whether your teams have prepared for them or not. Fourteen are AI agents, and every one requires setup before it can deliver value.
The headline is AI. The practical story is readiness.
Fourteen AI agents sounds significant. But look more closely and five are capabilities previously available through Prompt Lab, now re-platformed onto Fusion AI Agent Studio. The change is therefore as much about how the capability is delivered as the capability itself.
More importantly, the agents don't simply switch themselves on. Roles, business unit access, permission groups and Agent Studio configuration all need attention. The Planning Agents also require FSM opt-in, while the Performance Agents depend on sufficiently complete budgets, forecasts and action plans.
Three changes to discuss before the update
These are the delivered-enabled features that deserve immediate attention:
Automatic rebills on cancellation — Billing teams should validate cancellation scenarios and update internal guidance.
Labour commitment reporting in OTBI — Project and finance teams should review existing dashboards and incorporate the new commitment attributes.
Milestone approval history — Project Managers should review how the new history appears, confirm reviewer access and update approval guidance.
The remaining features require some form of setup, configuration or opt-in before they can deliver value.
What we're seeing in the field
26C also lands against some familiar challenges. This quarter, we've worked with organisations where capital intent isn't connected to governance, accrual controls still depend on spreadsheets, and planning forecasts quietly diverge from the ledger. New functionality helps, but only when the underlying process, controls and data are ready for it.
Where does that leave you?
26C shouldn't be treated simply as another quarterly feature release.
The organisations that get value from it fastest will be those that decide before the update which capabilities matter, who needs access, whether the underlying data is ready and how each change fits their operating model.
